New DWI arrest for Mastic woman
A Mastic woman arrested and charged with driving drunk the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway last year was arrested Thursday and charged again with driving while intoxicated, police said.
Jacqueline Vaughan-Moscatiello, 46, of 16 Kent Pl., struck a Ford Explorer near Station Road and Montauk Highway in Bellport and fled the scene about 4:25 p.m., police said, but was apprehended a short time later by responding Suffolk officers.
The driver of the Explorer was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue and treated for nonlife-threatening injuries to the head and neck, police said. Vaughan-Moscatiello was also transported to that hospital after complaining of chest pains but was released, police said.
Vaughan-Moscatiello was stopped and arrested June 16 by Suffolk Sheriff's department officers on the Expressway near Exit 61, Patchogue-Holbrook Road, in Holbrook, after she was observed driving her Suzuki sport utility vehicle eastbound in the westbound lane at 12:55 a.m., officers said. Authorities said they believe she entered the roadway in the wrong direction around Exit 59.
No information was available Thursday concerning the status of the June case and charges.
Vaughan-Moscatiello was to be arraigned Friday in First District Court, Central Islip on the new charges: felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated unlicensed operation and leaving the scene of an accident.
