Police: 1 killed, 1 wounded in North Bellport party shooting

One guest at a North Bellport party was shot to death and another was wounded Sunday night, police said.

Officers responded at about 11:25 p.m. to a report of a fight involving party guests “and a group of uninvited people” outside the home on Doane Avenue, and found gunshot victim James Skinner, 50, of Queens, Suffolk police said.

Skinner was pronounced dead at Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, police said.

The second man was treated at the same hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. His identity was not released.
