North Bellport man’s jaw broken in assault, police say

Suffolk County police and Crime Stoppers are looking for a group of men who assaulted a man at a North Bellport apartment complex in January, breaking his jaw.

Police on Tuesday released photographs of two suspects taken from video surveillance at the Apartments at Atlantic Point.

On Jan. 3, a resident of the complex confronted a group playing basketball on a court reserved for apartment dwellers, police said.

The basketball players “began to physically attack the resident,” according to a news release. The resident, a man, 61, sustained a broken jaw, the release said.
