NYPD boosts security after Bulgaria bomb

The NYPD ramped up security in Jewish neighborhoods Wednesday following the deaths of seven Israeli tourists in a bus bombing in Bulgaria, a police spokesman said.
As many as 100 critical response vehicles, each with two officers, were deployed to Jewish areas in the five boroughs and near Jewish institutions, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.
Browne said the move was precautionary, noting there was no specific threat to the city.
NYPD counterterrorism officials have become increasingly concerned about possible attacks in New York should tensions in the Mideast reach the point where Israel and Iran engage in hostilities, said a law enforcement official briefed on security issues.
