A homeless man was arrested late Monday night after he stole a car in Hampton Bays, while an 18-year-old was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in connection with the case, police said.

John Z. Martinolich, 28, was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property was Stephen Mineo, 18, of Hampton Bays.

Southampton Town police said a woman reported that the vehicle, a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander, was stolen from Bel-Aire Cove on Shinnecock Road at about 10 p.m. Detectives found the vehicle on Flanders Road near the intersection with Bellows Pond Road.
