Pedestrian struck, killed by truck in Blue Point, police say
A 60-year-old Bayport man was struck and killed by a flatbed truck in Blue Point Saturday night while walking with a bicycle along Montauk Highway, Suffolk police said.
Joseph Coleman was walking near Atlantic Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. when the truck hit him, according to police. Coleman was pronounced dead at Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, police said. The driver of the flatbed truck, Larry Guyette, 43, of Mastic, was not injured.
The truck was inspected at the scene by officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section.
