Police: 4 clerks charged with alcohol sale to minors
Clerks at three gas stations and one convenience store sold alcohol to minors on Sunday, Suffolk County police said.
Seventh Precinct Crime Section officers checked alcohol sales at eight businesses and also found four gas stations, two in Ridge and two in Rocky Point, in compliance, police said Monday morning in a news release.
Arrested and charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a minor after selling to a person younger than 21 years old were:
** Necmi Gurel, 54, a Farmingville resident, of Millenium Gas, 153 Middle Country Rd., Ridge.
** Hasan Haliloglu, 52, Baldwin, of USA Gas, 1146 Middle Country Rd., Middle Island.
** Ali Shah, 25, Coram, of Citgo Gas, at 557 Route 25A, Rocky Point.
** Jonathan Berkowitz, 27, Yaphank, of Handy Pantry, at 684 Route 25A, Rocky Point.
Each was appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on June 10.
The four gas stations found in compliance during the Sunday investigation were:
** BP Gas, 1470 Middle Country Rd., Ridge.
** BP Gas, 367 Middle Country Rd., Ridge.
** USA Gas, 681 Route 25A, Rocky Point.
** BP Gas, 779 Route 25A, Rocky Point.
