Police: 4 teens arrested in theft of hoverboards from Worthy NYC store
Four teenagers were arrested after breaking into a Westbury store early Friday and stealing three hoverboards, Nassau County police said.
Shawn Harvey, 17, Daniel Green, 18, and two juveniles — ages 14 and 15 — broke the front window of the Worthy NYC store on Prospect Avenue and stole the hoverboards, police said.
Third Precinct officers were on routine patrol shortly after 2 a.m. when they saw the four suspects running down Grand Boulevard, police said.
“Officers tried to stop the individuals, but they disregarded all verbal commands and continued to run,” police said in a statement.
Police caught the teens, and the hoverboards were found in a yard on Grand Boulevard, police said.
Harvey, of 100 Terrace Ave., Hempstead, and Green, of 58 S. 30th St., Wyandanch, face charges of third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief at arraignment Friday at First District Court, Hempstead.
The two juveniles will appear in Family Court at a later date.
