A 17-year-old Coram man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after he fell off the hood of a car he was riding on Wednesday night in Ridge, striking his head, police said.

The driver of the 2005 Ford involved in the incident, identified only as a 16-year-old male from Yaphank, was charged with driving without a license, permitting a person attached to a vehicle, and with driving with an obstructed view, Suffolk County police said.

The injured teen also was issued a summons — for riding while attached to a vehicle, police said.

Neither teen was named by police.

The 17-year-old was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

The incident occurred on Smith Road at about 10:20 p.m.

Additional information was not immediately available.
