Suffolk County police are looking for a driver who hit a homeless man on Route 347 in Hauppauge early Monday.

A police spokeswoman said the victim, 54, was taken to Stony Brook University with minor injuries after being struck at about 5:20 a.m.

The accident was in the eastbound lanes, near the New York State Office Building, according to informny.com, the state Department of Transportation website.

Police said the victim was walking with his bicycle in the middle of the roadway when he was struck and the driver fled the scene.

The accident closed the right lane of the roadway for about 45 minutes; it reopened at 6:09 a.m., informny.com said.
