Police: DWI charge after Mercedes-Benz crashes in West Babylon

A Wyandanch man was arrested and charged with drunken driving and drug possession after an early morning crash Friday in West Babylon, Suffolk County police said.
Police said William Washington, 23, who was arrested at the scene of the crash on Belmont Avenue, was charged with driving while intoxicated and with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine. He is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Central Islip.
Washington was driving a 2002 Mercedes-Benz southbound on Belmont when police said he crashed at 3:15 a.m.
