More than 16 years after a decomposed body was found off the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills, State Police are still trying to determine who the man is and who killed him.

Police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers on Tuesday released a computerized facial reconstruction of the victim in an effort to find those responsible. The man’s decomposed body was discovered on March 9, 2000, stuffed into a black plastic bag in a wooded area off the parkway, east of Wolf Hill Road.

Investigators have determined that the man was shot with a large caliber pistol.

He was white, between 35 and 45, and weighed 140 to 150 pounds. He had short, dark hair and was wearing a khaki-colored short-sleeved shirt with black trim, a T-shirt with a New Jersey emblem, jeans and a bathing suit, police said.
