Riverhead Mobil gas station robbed at gunpoint, cops say

Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Mobil gas station in Riverhead at gunpoint early Tuesday.

Riverhead Town police said the robbery at the gas station on Old Country Road was reported in a 911 call at 2:18 a.m. The station attendant told police the suspect robbed him at gunpoint, taking cash and then fleeing the scene on foot.

A search was conducted using a canine unit, police said. But, police were not able to find a suspect.

Police are asking anyone with information about the armed robbery to call detectives at 631-727-4500.

All calls will remain confidential.
