Police investigating 3 more lewd acts at Massapequa Preserve
Three more acts of public lewdness were reported within minutes of one another Sunday at the Peter J. Schmitt Massapequa Preserve, Nassau County police said, bringing the total to five in the past month.
A 51-year-old woman jogging in the preserve at 3:22 p.m. reported seeing a man going south on the jogging path naked from the waist down, Det. Lt. Richard LeBrun said.
The man was wearing a dark green, zipper-down sweatshirt with the hood up, police said. He was described as about 5-foot-10, between 40 and 50 years old with a skinny build, black hair and facial hair.
Just two minutes later, at 3:24 p.m., a different man, with a salt-and-pepper beard and wearing only a green, zipper-down hooded sweatshirt, appeared on Linden Street, just outside the preserve, LeBrun said in a news conference at the preserve Monday.
A third man was reported about 3:30 p.m. on Clark Boulevard wearing only a gray sweatshirt.
The three men said nothing and did not approach anyone, but were seen by people in the park, LeBrun said.
Friday, Andrew Parrucci, 57, of Amityville, was arrested and charged with public lewdness after police said he had approached a woman in the preserve while naked earlier in the week.
Parrucci was released without bail after a Saturday arraignment.
About a month ago, a man in the preserve wearing only white sneakers was spotted by a woman and fled into the woods, LeBrun said.
“Make sure you are not alone,” LeBrun advised visitors to the preserve. “Make sure you have a companion with you.”
LeBrun said the cases are not related.
“This is a very serious crime,” he said. “This is public lewdness.”
