Police are looking for a man who robbed and assaulted a woman on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck early Tuesday, Nassau County police said.

Police said the 39-year-old woman was walking north at 4:15 a.m. when a man came from behind, covered her mouth, brandished a knife and demanded money.

After the woman told the man she had no money, he went through her jacket pockets, taking two cellphones and other items, police said. He then touched her inappropriately, police said in a news release.

When the victim tried to bite the man’s hand, he fled south on Middle Neck Road.

The women later called officers for help. She wasn’t hurt and some of her belongings were recovered, police said.

The male suspect is described as 5-foot-10, wearing a blue hooded jacket, gray pants with matching stripes, black gloves, a dark knit hat and dark shoes, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
