Police: Man, 17, charged in shooting of three in Hamptons

A 17-year-old man faces charges he wounded three men, one seriously, when he fired a shotgun several times into a crowd of people standing on a street in Southampton in January, police said.
Southampton Village police said Chace A. Quinn, of Southampton, was indicted by a grand jury on March 7 on charges stemming from the shooting and said he was arrested on March 10 and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment.
Court records show he pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on March 11 and was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail. Court records show he is being held on $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 14.
Police said the shooting took place on Hillcrest Avenue at 5:56 p.m. on Jan. 25. They said Quinn exited a white 2011 Toyota Camry and “fired several shots” from a shotgun into the crowd of people, then fled the scene. The three victims were taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment, police said. Police said one victim was in intensive care for five days.
Police did not say how they linked Quinn to the crime.
A motive for the shooting also was not known.
Police said the Toyota has been impounded and said more arrests are expected.
