Two suspects attacked and tried to rob a man walking to his vehicle at Westfield Sunrise shopping mall on Monday night, but fled without any proceeds, Nassau County police said.

Police said the robbery attempt occurred in the Massapequa mall parking lot at 9:13 p.m.

The victim, a 42-year-old man, was approached by one suspect, who asked for money — then attempted to grab a bag the victim was carrying, police said. At the same time, a second suspect approached and punched the victim in the back of the head.

No one was injured.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All call with remain confidential.
