Cops seize 1,000 pounds of marijuana at Southampton house after 911 call, arrest 1

Police seized 1,000 pounds of marijuana and arrested a man after responding to a 911 call reporting a home-invasion burglary in Southampton on Thursday, authorities said.
Just before 1 a.m., Southampton Town officers arrived at a home on West Neck Road, finding a man there with cuts to his head but conscious and alert, according to a police news release.
Others at the house took off before officers arrived, the release said.
Police observed a large quantity of marijuana in the home and executed a search warrant, seizing about 1,000 pounds of marijuana that had been packaged for sale and distribution.
The sole occupant was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
After an investigation, Antonio M. Velay, of Southampton, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of cannabis, police said.
Police did not confirm whether Velay was an occupant of the house or if he was involved in the alleged burglary.
