Police: N. Amityville man shot inside home

Suffolk police are investigating the shooting of a 27-year-old man inside his North Amityville home Thursday night.

Police said Jeffrey Jones was shot in the abdomen and leg while he wrestled with a man at 11 Emerald Lane North at about 6:45 p.m. The gunman -- described as a 6-foot, stocky man in his mid 20s -- then fled in an unknown vehicle, according to the report.

Jones was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and admitted in stable condition, police said.
