Police officer injured in rear-end crash in Holbrook, cops say

A Suffolk County police officer suffered minor injuries Friday morning when his marked patrol vehicle, emergency lights flashing, was rear-ended by another vehicle, police said.

Officer Arnold Reyes of the Fifth Precinct had responded to a crash on the westbound ramp to Sunrise Highway at Nicolls Road in Holbrook and stopped his patrol car to block the lane of the crash, police said.

As Reyes sat in his car, it was rear-ended about 12:34 a.m. by a 2015 Toyota sport utility vehicle driven by Maureen Wilson, 39, of West Islip, police said.

Wilson was issued a summons for failing to move over for emergency and hazard vehicles, police aid.

She was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, and the officer was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

Both had minor injuries, police said.
