A 24-year-old Plainview woman returned home Wednesday to find her second-floor bedroom door ajar and a hooded burglar hiding behind the door, Nassau County Police said.

The man emerged from behind the door as the woman went to open it. He ran out of the Central Park Road home sometime after 5 p.m., police said. No injuries were reported and nothing was reported stolen at the time.

Shortly before the woman came home, her 45-year-old mother had returned to the residence around 5 p.m. after the alarm company notified her that the alarm had been activated. But she found no doors open and nothing out of place, police said.

Detectives ask that anyone with information contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.
