A Riverhead man was arrested Saturday morning for stabbing his wife, police said.

The woman called police to her home on Segal Avenue about 8:30 a.m. to report that her 59-year-old husband had stabbed her several times, Riverhead Town police said.

The victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center where she was treated and released. The injuries were not considered serious, police said.

The man was treated for a self-inflicted stab wound at Stonybrook University Hospital. He was expected to recover, police said.

The man’s name was not released by police. He was awaiting formal charges.
