Police are searching for an armed man who walked into a day spa in Oceanside, demanded money at gunpoint -- then fled.

The robbery took place at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday at the Frasada Salon & Day Spa on Long Beach Road, Nassau County police said. Police did not say how much money was taken.

Police said the robber told the receptionist at the spa to place cash into a black shopping bag. Once she did, he fled northbound on Long Beach Road. There were 10 customers in the spa at the time of the robbery, police said, but all were in the rear of the salon -- and none witnessed the crime. No one was injured.

Police are asking anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. The gunman is described as being between 20 and 25 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 tall with a thin build, glasses and short brown hair. Police said he was wearing a bulky and dark-colored three-quarters-length jacket.
