Staten Island pair used fake cash to buy Vanilla cards, say cops

A man and woman, both from Staten Island, were arrested after they bought gift cards using six counterfeit $100 bills Thursday night at a Walmart in Valley Stream, Nassau County police said.
Police said Sahana Henry, 17, of Hamilton Street, and Curtis Jackson, 21, of Castleton Avenue, were arrested as they tried to leave the area in a white Mercedes-Benz. Jackson was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and five counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. Henry was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Police said the pair entered the Walmart on Green Acres Road at about 9 p.m. and used the fake $100 bills to buy gift cards. Store security notified police and responding officers found Henry and Jackson entering the Mercedes, which they then stopped, police said.
An investigation found that Jackson was in possession of four Vanilla MasterCards and one Visa card, police said. Police said Henry had a $100, a $20 and a $10 bill, all of them counterfeit, in her possession.
Police said another fake $100 and a fake $20 were recovered from the car.
Jackson and Henry were arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead. Jackson was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond, while Henry was given a conditional release to probation. Both are due back in court Wednesday.
