Suspect sought in North Patchogue store assault, cops say

Police conducted a canine search in an effort to find a suspect who punched a gas station store clerk in the face after investigators said the attendant refused to sell the suspect cigarettes early Monday in North Patchogue.
The assault occurred at the Shell station on Medford Avenue near Everett Street and was reported at about 2:30 a.m., Suffolk County police said.
Police said the injured clerk did not require medical attention.
The canine search failed to locate the suspect.
Additional details were not immediately known.
