Nassau County police have released a surveillance image of a man they said they are seeking in connection with a theft from a poor box at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre on Sept. 1, 2016. Credit: NCPD

The suspect who broke open the poor box at St. Agnes Cathedral in September, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash, wore a white-collared shirt and a tie, as seen in a surveillance photo released Thursday by Nassau County police.

Police released the picture in hopes someone recognizes the man, who they said used a tool to pry open the poor box at the cathedral on Quealy Place in Rockville Centre, on Sept. 1 at 2:30 p.m.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
