A tractor trailer with a suspended registration turned out to have numerous dangerous safety violations, Suffolk police said on Friday.

The vehicle, traveling west on Sunrise Highway, east of Route 112, on Wednesday morning, was taken out of service after an inspection at a traffic stop in Patchogue revealed worn tires plus defective steering and brakes, police said.

Officers with the motor carrier safety sector discovered 32 violations — 11 of them requiring them to bar it from being driven any longer, the police said in a statement.

A total of 27 summonses were issued, the police said

The tractor trailer is owned by Gladiator Industries in Medford, the police said. A company official was not immediately available to comment.

The driver, Colin Proctor, 59, of Medford, received a summons for driving a commercial motor vehicle without a commercial driver’s license, police said.

Highway Patrol Bureau Officer Michael Becker was credited with stopping the Peterbilt vehicle after a license plate reader revealed the initial violation.
