A Coram man who stole purses from three separate women walking in commercial parking lots last month was arrested Tuesday morning, Suffolk County police said.
Officers said Andrew Sunyar, 36, first snatched a purse from a woman as she walked through the Walmart parking lot on Route 25 in Middle Island on Feb. 23.
The following day, authorities said he took a purse from a woman walking in the Kohl’s parking lot on Route 347 in Setauket.
The last theft happened as a woman was walking in the Stop and Shop parking lot on Route 25A in Miller Place on Feb. 25, police said.
Sunyar is charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny. He also was charged with a warrant for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Sunyar was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
