Queens man found with drugs, cash in traffic stop, cops said

A Queens man being held on $100,000 bail is due back in court Friday on charges he possessed drugs with intent to sell and fled, then fought a state trooper attempting to arrest him.
Kevin Ramlall, 32, of Ozone Park, was arrested after a traffic stop of his black Nissan Altima on March 8 on Route 135, the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway, State Police said in a news release Tuesday.
The stop was initiated on the Southern State Parkway at 12:52 p.m., police said, adding that Ramlall didn’t stop his car until he was on northbound Route 135.
During the stop, police said the trooper “detected a strong odor of marijuana” and that Ramlall appeared “extremely nervous.”
Asked to exit the car, Ramlall appeared to be “concealing what looked like plastic bags” in his pants, police said.
When the trooper asked to see his hands, police said, Ramlall instead tried to flee into nearby woods. Police said as he did he left “a trail of plastic bags containing white powder.”
Ramlall was eventually tackled by the trooper, but began to punch and kick him before the trooper fought back and was able to handcuff him. Police said Ramlall was “carrying several small bags of heroin and cocaine” and had 4 grams of marijuana and more than $2,200 in cash. A digital scale and cellphones were found inside the Nissan, police said.
Charges against Ramlall include two counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substances, resisting arrest, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana and misdemeanor unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
