An East Hampton man was arraigned Monday in connection with the rape of a woman attacked Sunday in a Springs school parking lot with a 7-year-old girl nearby, law enforcement officials said.

Bryan Siranaula, 18, was being held on $205,000 bail after his arraignment in East Hampton Town Justice Court on Monday on first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, said Sheila Kelly, spokeswoman for Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini.

Siranaula’s attorney could not be reached for comment.

East Hampton Town Police said in a news release that Siranaula saw the victim, who is an acquaintance, and a 7-year-old girl in a rear parking lot of Springs School on School Street at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

He approached the woman’s car, opened the door and asked to speak with the victim before pulling her out of the vehicle and forcing her into another one nearby, police said.

Police said Siranaula sexually assaulted the victim and that the girl, who was being cared for by the victim, witnessed the attack.

He is due back in court on Thursday.
