Two employees of the Sports Authority store in Riverhead have been arrested on charges they have been stealing merchandise since late last month, police said.

Kerry J. Nash, 19, and Matthew F. Fineron, 20, face third-degree grand larceny charges, Riverhead police said. Both men were arrested on Wednesday evening and held at the Riverhead Police Department and were expected to be arraigned Thursday morning.

Police said that since April 28, both men had been taking merchandise from the store. Detectives investigated the initial reports from the store, at 1160 Old Country Rd., Riverhead.

Police did not provide details of the items taken or their value.

The arrests come as the retailer prepares to close all of its stores, including eight on Long Island.
