Riverhead cops: 2 teens robbed, 1 attacked in park
A teenager was injured when he was punched in the face during a robbery Saturday night at a Riverhead park, police said.
Riverhead police said the incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. near Oakland Drive West.
Police said two teenagers told officers they were surrounded by a group of 10, including two females, while in the neighborhood park. Two males displayed knives and stole one victim’s sneakers and the other victim’s cellphone, police said.
One victim sustained a head injury when he was punched. He was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment, police said.
The suspects fled.
