Riverhead DWI checkpoint nabs 7, police say
Seven people were arrested Saturday night at DWI checkpoints in Riverhead, police said.
Those charged with driving while intoxicated were Gregory W. Zilnicki, 24, of Northgate Circle, Calverton; Jose Lopez Solano, 29, of County Road 48, Cutchogue; Alejandro Valle-Martinez, 31, of Kings Drive, Riverhead; Malcolm Kelly, 25, of Fairview Drive, Shirley; Alicia M. Booker, 27, of Grove Street, Riverhead; Edward Kropas, 58, of Wauhope Road, Hampton Bays; and Lauren M. Gerstle, 30, of Ninth Street, Brooklyn, police said.
Riverhead police said the checkpoint effort, being done throughout the town, is part of the Suffolk County district attorney’s DWI Task Force.
Increased enforcement in Riverhead is being done in cooperation with police from Shelter Island, Southold Town, Suffolk County and New York state.
