Police are searching for an armed man who attacked and robbed an 81-year-old Riverhead man as he attempted to park in the driveway of his Lewis Street home late Thursday.

Riverhead Town police said the masked gunman stole a wallet containing $180 in cash.

The victim was not seriously injured in the attack, which occurred at 11:50 p.m.

The man said he had pulled into his driveway when he was robbed by a man wearing a ski mask and gloves, striking him in the face with a handgun, police said. Once Finney turned over his wallet, police said, the robber fled on foot.

Police ask anyone with information to call them at 631-727-4500. All calls will remain confidential.
