Driver in Riverhead pronounced dead after crash, police say

A Mattituck woman driving Thursday afternoon in Riverhead died after her car left the roadway and struck parked vehicles, police said.
The Riverhead Town Police Department responded to a 3:18 p.m. call regarding a car crash on Sound Avenue in Jamesport, according to a news release.
When officers arrived at the scene, police said, they discovered a 2016 white Subaru that had been heading westbound on Sound Avenue had "left the roadway and struck two unoccupied vehicles" in the parking lot of Lumber and Salt, an antique shop.
The driver of the Subaru, Victoria Moller, 75, of Mattituck, was unresponsive at the scene, police said. Moller was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where she was pronounced dead.
"At this stage of the investigation, it appears a prior medical event may have contributed to the accident," Riverhead police said in the release. The department’s Detective Squad is still investigating the crash.
