An officer on patrol was flagged down at about 8:50 p.m. by a man who said his friend was being assaulted. The man took the officer to the corner of Maple Avenue and Second Street, where they found the victim, police said.

The 30-year-old man at the scene said he was punched and kicked in the face repeatedly by a group of four men who took his cellphone and cash before fleeing on foot, police said.

The men were described as all being around 19 or 20 years old, police said. One was wearing red pants and another was dressed in all black. Police searched the area, but were not able to find the men.
