Police responding to a burglary call early Friday in Riverhead found the front door of a mini-mart “pushed in” — and $1,400 stolen from “several cash registers.”

The burglary, which occurred at the Stop & Go Mini Mart on West Main Street, was reported by employees at 4:08 a.m.

Riverhead Town police said employees arrived at the scene to find the smashed-in door, then called police.

It was not immediately clear if any physical evidence had been recovered from the scene or if police had suspects.

There have been no arrests.

Police ask anyone with information about the crime to call them at 631-727-4500, ext. 633.

All calls will remain confidential.
