A driver was forced to stop and robbed by the occupants of another vehicle on the Sagtikos State Parkway on Thursday night, State Police said Saturday.

Police said a burgundy 2016 Land Rover was traveling north on the parkway’s ramp to the Long Island Expressway’s eastbound service road in Brentwood at about 9:15 p.m. The Land Rover was approached and boxed in on the ramp by a white BMW sport utility vehicle and a light-colored sedan, forcing it to stop, police said.

The Land Rover’s driver told police that a man came out of one of the vehicles, brandished a gun and took a handbag that was in the Land Rover.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call 631-756-3300. All calls will remain confidential.
