Richard Enstad, of Lindenhurst, charged with possessing over 1,000 child sex abuse images, police say

A Lindenhurst man was charged Thursday with possessing more than 1,000 child sex abuse images after authorities, acting on an online tip, searched his home, Suffolk police said.
Just before 7:30 a.m., police executed a search warrant at the West Gates Avenue home of Richard Enstad, 68, after receiving a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and an investigation by Digital Forensics Unit detectives.
Officers seized multiple electronic devices from Enstad's home, which were found to contain more than 1,000 images depicting child sex abuse, police said.
Enstad was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child. He pleaded not guilty at his Thursday arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip.
