Three men have been charged after a home invasion Friday night on Shelter Island where a woman told authorities she was held at gunpoint, according to Shelter Island police.

Kevin E. Calderon, 25, of the Bronx, Silvestro Mazzella,  70,  of Yonkers, and Livio Josue Melo, 27, of the Bronx, were each charged with second-degree burglary and remanded to the Suffolk County jail in Riverhead with bail set at $75,000 per person, police said in a release Sunday.

Police on Friday night responded to a 911 call of a home invasion at a residence in the center of town, where a woman was reporting that she was held at gunpoint by several men who later fled, according to the release.

The woman, who was emotionally distraught, was transported by Shelter Island EMS to Eastern Long Island Hospital for evaluation, police said.

Police were able to track the suspects to Yonkers, where, with the help of the Yonkers Police Department, the three men were detained early Saturday morning.

Officers from Shelter Island and investigators from the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation interviewed the men who were later arrested and brought back to Shelter Island for arraignment and prosecution, police said.

The State Police BCI and Forensic Investigation Unit are working with Shelter Island Police to collect additional evidence and information.

Additional charges and arrests may be presented to a grand jury at a later date, police said.
