Nassau County police have arrested a Baldwin woman who they said stole a credit card while working as a substitute mail carrier and used it to buy $4,800 worth of goods.

On Sept. 12, 2014, a woman police identified as Shereen Maignan, 25, of 3325 Bertha Drive, Baldwin, entered Nordstrom at Roosevelt Field Mall in East Garden City. Surveillance footage captured Maignan paying for $4,800 worth of merchandise with a Chase Bank credit card, police said.

An East Meadow woman had reported that her Chase Bank credit card had never arrived in the mail -- the same card police said Maignan used, according to police.

The U.S. Postal Inspector also conducted an investigation into the complaint, and determined that Maignan had been filling in as a substitute mail carrier on that route at that time in East Meadow.

Through a combined effort, authorities located Maignan and arrested her on Tuesday morning at about 10:05 a.m.

Maignan was charged with third degree grand larceny and first degree identity theft. She was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
