Middle Island man arrested in May shooting in Riverhead
Town of Riverhead police arrested and charged a Middle Island man for alleged involvement in a May shooting that left two men injured, police announced Friday.
Police arrested Paul Houpe, 29, on Friday following an investigation by detectives and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, police said in a news release.
Police said that two men were injured in a disturbance in which shots were fired near the Mambo Grill and Lounge on Main Street in Riverhead at 1:20 a.m. on May 28. The two men were treated at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for unspecified injuries.
Houpe was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of second-degree criminal use of a firearm, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of first-degree attempted assault.
He was arrested without incident and was being held pending arraignment, police said.
