Suffolk County police investigating shots fired into two homes on Cedar Drive in North Bay Shore Wednesday. Credit: Stringer News

Suffolk County police announced that they have increased patrols by marked and unmarked units in response to a shooting in North Bay Shore on Wednesday.

Police said two homes were struck by gunfire and one man, a resident in one of those homes, was grazed by a bullet in the shooting, which took place on Cedar Drive just after 3 a.m.

No possible motive for the shooting has been detailed and police have not said if it was random or targeted.

Police also have not detailed how many shots were fired.

The homes are not far from the Southern State Parkway and police have not said if investigators were able to retrieve any relevant evidence from nearby surveillance cameras.
