A man driving early Sunday in Commack was shot and wounded by someone in another vehicle, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was heading south on Commack Road at 2:15 a.m., north of the Long Island Expressway, when the occupant of another vehicle opened fire, according to the police.

The man self-transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment. He is expected to be released at some point later Sunday, said the police, who did not provide information on a possible suspect in the shooting or a motive.
