Cops: Nassau detectives shoot, wound Copiague man

Suffolk County homicide detectives are investigating a shooting involving Nassau County police that occurred Saturday afternoon in Copiague in Suffolk.
According to a news release from Suffolk police, Nassau police were interviewing a man outside his home on Buchanan Avenue in Copiague about an unidentified incident in Nassau County on an earlier date when the suspect charged at and threatened detectives with a knife. The 39-year-old man was shot by detectives just before 4:30 p.m., police said.
Suffolk police didn't release the names of the detectives or the man shot.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment. His injuries were serious, but not life-threatening, police said.
The investigation was ongoing.
