Two men, who police said are related but in separate vehicles on the Sagtikos State Parkway, were shot in a "targeted" assault Friday in pre-dawn hours.

Suffolk County police said the victims, both 24 years old, were shot by the occupant of another vehicle while they drove north about one-quarter mile north of Pine Aire Drive in Brentwood around 4 a.m. A Suffolk police spokesman said the men were "targeted" by the shootings but did not elaborate as to why.

One of the men drove to the Second Precinct in Huntington, where police said he reported the shooting. He was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of a gunshot wound to the lower back.

Police said the second man drove to Huntington Hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds to the wrist and thigh.

Their injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to contact First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.

All calls will remain confidential.
