A teenage boy is in the hospital with serious injuries after being shot multiple times in a "targeted" shooting at a West Babylon party on Friday night, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

The shooting happened shortly after 11 p.m. on 11th Street. In a news release, police said the 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times outside the house party and he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The department’s release said "detectives believe the victim was targeted," but they did not elaborate.

A Suffolk police spokesperson declined to provide further details about where the victim was shot, how many times he was hit, or any other information about the nature of the incident.

The spokesperson said the department would update its release if an arrest is made.

Detectives continue to investigate. The department asks anyone with information to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
