An Elmont man faces multiple charges after he allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at two teenagers over his rear fence on Monday, Nassau police said.

Around 6 p.m., two 16-year-old boys were outside in the back of 99¢ & up Deal on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont when William Stegman, 59, peered over his rear fence and pointed a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun at the teens, police said.

The teens ran home and informed their parents, who then notified police. Stegman was arrested without incident at his Ludlam Place home, following an investigation, police said.

Stegman is charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree menacing, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said. At his arraignment in Nassau District Court, bail was set at 10,000 cash or $25,000 insured bond and a temporary order of protection was issued.
