Man threatens to rape woman in Greenport, cops say

A Southold man threatened a woman with rape and death Tuesday and tried to drag her to a wooded area of Greenport, Southold Town police said.

Officers were alerted about 3 p.m. to a fight off Route 25, where a 27-year-old woman told them the stranger had also threatened her with cutting shears, police said.

Police said officers found Jose Amadeo Perez, 38, in the area and held him for arraignment on charges of second-degree attempted assault, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree menacing and harassment.
