His driver’s license had been suspended 31 times for a slew of traffic violations when, police said, a Patchogue man was arrested early Friday for speeding and driving without a license.

Gerard Loschiavo, 32, of La Bonne Vie Drive, was pulled over near Exit 48 by Suffolk County police highway patrol Officer Zacarias Alvarado, who had seen Loschiavo traveling at a high rate of speed on Sunrise Highway in Oakdale at about 12:05 a.m., police said in a news release.

When Alvarado checked Loschiavo’s license, he discovered it had been suspended 31 times on 15 different dates since December 2005, police said, including for multiple speeding tickets within 18 months; refusal to submit to a chemical test; operating without insurance; failure to pay driver responsibility assessment; failure to pay previous fines for traffic and parking tickets; and failure to answer summons.

An attorney listed on open case court records for Loschiavo did not immediately return a phone call Saturday morning.

Loschiavo was arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, a felony, and was issued a summons for speeding, police said.

He was arraigned Friday, police said. Details of that arraignment were not immediately available.
